House prices in the UK vary dramatically, from multi-million-pound properties in London to terraced houses in some of the more deprived towns that can be bought for just £5k!

And of course, property prices in London are the highest of anywhere in the UK, on average.

But what about areas outside of London?

What if you want to buy a property in a beautiful town in a premium price range? But you don't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of living in the city?

Some of the most expensive locations within England are small, quintessentially British towns with rivers and lakes and lush green parks. Beautiful surroundings and countryside to spend long leisurely weekend days walking and getting into nature. And most of these towns will have a fantastic restaurant or two to enjoy a lovely meal and a great bottle of wine.

But it's fair to say that they are all within a commutable distance of London. That north-south divide shows that the wealthiest people and those purchasing the highest value properties in the country probably still need to travel into the city.

So, these are the top 15 areas, based on average house prices, outside of London.
